Instructions

  1. 1

Wash the chives thoroughly and drain well. Cut them into 5 cm lengths, add the raw soybean flour, and toss until evenly coated.

  2. 2

Line a steamer with a cloth, add the chives, and steam once the steam rises until they turn bright green and are cooked through.

  3. 3

Mix the low-sodium soy sauce with the minced green onion, minced garlic, red pepper powder, cooking syrup, sesame oil, and sesame seeds to make the sauce, then place the steamed chives in a serving dish.

Ingredient substitutions

Garlic chives
Scallions or a little leek provide freshness with a different aroma.
Roasted soybean powder
Finely ground roasted nuts add nuttiness but are not the same ingredient.
Soy sauce
Tamari works, though saltiness differs.
Green onion
Chives or a small amount of leek can work, with a different flavor.
Garlic
Garlic powder works in a pinch but lacks fresh aroma.
