Instructions

  1. 1

Rinse the rice thoroughly, soak it, and cook the rice.

  2. 2

Remove excess blood from the beef. Cut the mushrooms, carrot, onion, and green onion into bite-size pieces.

  3. 3

Blend half of the garlic with the dark soy sauce, onion, pear, and ground black pepper to make the marinade.

  4. 4

Add the marinade from step 3 to the drained beef and mix well.

  5. 5

Thinly slice the remaining garlic and fry it in oil to make garlic chips.

  6. 6

Stir-fry the marinated bulgogi in a pan, place it over rice in a bowl, and garnish with the garlic chips.

Ingredient substitutions

Beef
Mushrooms or chicken can replace it with a different result.
Rice
Medium-grain rice works well. Long-grain rice is usable but gives a drier, looser texture.
Mushroom
Any mild mushroom can work.
Carrot
Bell pepper adds color but a different flavor.
Onion
Shallot or leek works with a different aroma.
