    Clean the abalone and separate the flesh from the innards.

    Finely chop the abalone innards with a knife.

    Finely chop the carrot and abalone flesh.

    Add the abalone shells and kelp to 300 g of water and make a broth.

    Add the seaweed to the prepared broth and bring it to a boil.

    Sauté the chopped abalone innards and soaked glutinous rice in sesame oil, then add the cooked seaweed soup and continue cooking to make a porridge. Finish with the chopped carrot and black sesame seeds.

Ingredient substitutions

Glutinous rice
Short-grain rice can be used in some dishes, but it will be less sticky and chewy.
Carrot
Bell pepper adds color but a different flavor.
Kelp
Use a vegetable or anchovy broth when kelp is unavailable.
Dried sea mustard
Wakame is the closest widely available option; thickness and saltiness vary.
Toasted sesame oil
Perilla oil is different but works in some Korean dishes.
